As a Musician: I aim to compose, perform, and direct excellent music. It is my view that both serious and common music forms have value in their appropriate places. While art music can contribute towards a remarkably practical end, practical music can also be done artfully. As an Educator: I aim to bring students into lively interaction with those primary sources that define their fields of study. Students also require fundamental skills in order to perceive and communicate with intelligence. These aims are in harmony with the idea of classical education. |

My favorite pastimes include reading, fishing, kayaking, jogging, and conversation over coffee. I enjoy participating in diverse musical contexts including free improvisation, sacred music, accompanying, piano recitals, conducting, and concert attendance. Our family also frequents local parks for weekend recreation. |
