About The Mathematics Education Program at BBC
Among the most sought after teachers today are those who are well prepared to teach mathematics.
At Baptist Bible College, we combine top-quality preparation for high-demand mathematics teaching with our foundation of solid, biblically based preparation for a life of service and leadership.
This is a combination we believe is not matched anywhere.
More information on the program and BBC is online at www.bbc.edu/college. You and your students can log on to take a virtual tour, watch videos, and apply today.
Your student may not know if God wants them in ministry right now. I can tell you that if they are not sure what God wants them to do, there's no better place to determine God's will for their life than BBC.
We won't tell them God's will, but we will give them the tools necessary so they can discover what it is.
Math Education Excellence
Our math program is small, providing students close interaction with faculty.
There are many projects, such as PMET (Preparing Mathematicians to Educate Teachers), which strongly suggest connecting the content taught in college mathematics courses with material the students will be teaching. At BBC, we have designed all the mathematics courses to specifically make these connections.
Additionally, pedagogy (teaching methods) is discussed in all math courses, not just in the Methods for Teaching Mathematics in the secondary education area.
We accept as a challenge that mathematics is the “hardest subject to integrate.” We present a Christian view of mathematics. Students learn that some of God’s attributes can be seen through mathematics, how the structure of mathematics glorifies God, and that God created mathematics for a purpose.
Thinking Biblically and Globally
While we help students develop their worldview and think biblically, we are recognized outside of our Christian circles.
For example, BBC was recently chosen to participate in the United States Teacher Education Study in Mathematics (US TEDS-M). This project is going to look at policies, programs and practices in teacher education programs across the country.
I encourage you and your students to check out BBC for yourself. It’s easy to schedule a personalized visit or get whatever other information you need. You can also log on to our website today – http://www.bbc.edu/college – or call 800.451.7664.
We believe the college your students choose can define their life. We know BBC can change their life.
